A few weeks ago, I gave a presentation on marketing basics to business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. It was fun to learn about their businesses and offer advice.
One entrepreneur is a pro in the kitchen. Her tres leches won the hearts of the attendees. You'll want to visit Chilacates to taste her great work.
The question I asked the attendees is this: if I were to ask your customers to describe you in three words, what would you hope those three words would be? The next question is: if a total stranger were to look at your marketing and communications materials (brochures, social media, website, etc.), would your materials communicate those three words to that stranger? How is the way you communicate your business aligned (or not aligned) with what attributes you want your business to embody?
